Lucas & Rachel – Point Loma Engagement

Let me just start out with saying that this was one of the most fun engagement sessions ever!

I had never met Lucas or Rachel until our shoot, so I was so excited for us to finally get to work together. They are such a dynamic couple and they brought so much love and energy to our shoot! Rachel had chosen our location which was The North Chapel at the NTC Promenade in Point Loma. I’d never fully walked the grounds before so I was very excited to get the opportunity to shoot some place new. I absolutely LOVE it when my clients pick out locations that are special to them. It just brings so much  unique-ness to the shoot. I think because it’s more “them” and less “me” and I just love that.

We were supposed to shoot in two locations, The North Chapel and then make our way over to the beach for some sunset/golden hour (my favorite) photos. Unfortunately it was on the brink of rain the entire time, so we weren’t able to make it to the beach, but I think it worked out better! We got to spend more time running around the Promenade and exploring and we found so many fun and amazing places to shoot and the light was perfect for us there! We will be doing a shoot at the beach soon though, so keep checking back for part two of their engagement session. :-)

Okay, back to the awesome-ness that is Lucas and Rachel. They love the 40’s. So, they totally added a 40’s flair to our shoot and I was so stoked. They totally picked out fun outfits and found Life magazines from the 40’s. So fun! I just wanted to make sure I took no credit for their creativity! It was ALL them! I seriously have the BEST clients!

You are both amazing. You both love out loud and I was BLESSED to document it. You are truly beautiful people and Sean and I cannot wait for your wedding! Thank you for giving us the honor of photographing your love.

Now for some photos…

Rachel, you are seriously stunning.

You two have the greatest smiles!

I love the photograph on the left so much because it reminds of the black and white photo of the sailor kissing the nurse in Times Square. Ooooh, I just  love how romantic it is.

These two just love to play… and I loved getting to watch it. :-)

Lucas is quite the awesome dancer! Rachel seems to agree. :-)

You both are seriously amazing.

    Dawn,

Yes, Lucas is the “real deal”.

He’s currently a Marine reservist. He spent four years on active duty, including two tours in Iraq. He’s out now going to college, but expects to attend to Marine Corps Officer Candidate school next year, and then finish his upper division work to get his B.A.

I’m proud of both “my kids”, my new son-in-law Lucas and Rachel, my daughter. God Bless them both in their new life together.

And thanks, Brooke, for capturing their special, once-in-a-lifetime moments so wonderfully on film. You clearly have a special talent for bringing out the best in your photographic subjects.
