The Buddy System & Miss Olivia’s Birthday Shoot.

Today I had the great pleasure of working alongside my dear friend and fellow photographer Elise Danielle. We work together often and if anyone out here in blog land hires me for anything, chances are you’ll meet and work with Elise as well. Which is lucky for you because she’s just a blast! :-)

Elise invited me along to photograph Olivia, a sweet little girl who just turned 1. She had a photo shoot with Elise at around 7 months and I knew she was a TOTAL cutie! I immediately got super excited!

Anyway I don’t usually post babies on my blog as it’s not generally the type of shooting I tend to do. But I wanted to post this specifically to show the importance of a working relationship with another photographer.

I personally feel it’s difficult to do photo shoots completely on your own. I also feel like it’s difficult to do a shoot with someone that I’ve never worked or interacted with before. I’m not saying that shooting alone or with people you don’t have a relationship with is bad at all. I just know how much I appreciate having that relationship with the people I work with because I feel like the entire experience is different. The more I know someone the easier it is to communicate with them and the less I have to worry about whether or not certain shots are being taken. I love the fact that when I shoot, I don’t have to give a checklist to anyone and I can fully trust them by themselves. I feel like it also provides a better experience for my clients, when their photographers have a great relationship, work well together and can communicate well and efficiently… and that to me is priceless.

I know this is kind of a random thing to talk about and a bit of a ramble, but I do want to encourage photographers to find someone that they know who also does photography and work with them. Cheesy, but kind of like a buddy system. It’s amazing what you can learn from other people and their styles and what a shoot can gain just from going at it with someone you trust and who trusts you. After all, who you work with represents you and your brand.

Here are some photos from our session!

While I was shooting a little wider…

Elise was taking some sweet close ups of Olivia.

These two are from Elises angle.

And this one is from mine. I love how similar yet totally different these photos are!

Olivia is a new walker… she just started a few days ago and let me tell you… this girl is fearless!

A little belly with that tutu please. :-)

I love this shot of Olivia that Elise took. She was not into the kitty hat at this moment and was letting us know she’d like a change of scenery. :-)

Elise also took this shot… I just love everything about it. The hat, her moms hand… she reminds me of a little french girl!

Elises photo is on the left and mine is on the right. Olivia decided to go digging for gold fish crackers that were at the bottom of this basket. SO cute!

She reallllly wanted them!
